Address Signs
Free
Can your address be easily and clearly seen from the road at night when traveling at normal speed?
If not, emergency responders may struggle to find you when you dial 911.

To help address this issue, the Plattsburg Fire Protection District is offering free address visibility assistance for 100 homes within the district each year. This initiative is part of their Fire Prevention and Public Education efforts and is provided at no cost to residents.

This program is a collaborative effort with the Plattsburg Pioneers 4-H!
Smoke Detectors
Free
In partnership with the American Red Cross, the Plattsburg Fire Protection District offers free smoke detectors and batteries, including installation, to residents within the district.
​
For safety, smoke detector batteries should be replaced every spring and fall when changing clocks for daylight saving time. Detectors should also be tested monthly by pressing the test button. At a minimum, smoke detectors should be installed in every bedroom, hallway, and basement, with additional units placed as needed based on your home’s layout and usage.

Plattsburg Fire can conduct a home safety check and recommend optimal locations for smoke detectors. Remember, smoke detectors have a lifespan of 10 years and should be replaced once they reach that age.

All of these services are provided to our residents completely free of charge.
